NSCC – Placement Testing and Orientation

Orientation
Congratulations on your decision to attend NSCC! Your next step is to complete the online Student Orientation. The orientation is required of all new students prior to registering for classes. Follow the instructions below to complete the Student Orientation.
- Open a web page to Sakai or use the link on the academics tab of myNSCC.
- Click on “NSCC LOGIN” in the upper right hand corner
- Your Username is your student email address
- Your Password is whatever you set it as when you activated your myNSCC account
- Click on the checkerboard icon in the upper right hand corner
- Click on the orientation option under PROJECTS
- On the menu on the left side of the screen, click on “Orientation Content” (second from the top)
- Review each section of the orientation content including Enrollment Steps, Campus Resources, Know Your Rights, Financial Resources, and MyNSCC Overview and Navigation before completing the Check Your Knowledge assessment
- To remove the orientation hold from your account, you must submit the “Confirmation Quiz” at the end

Accuplacer Assessment
Northwest State Community College administers the Accuplacer Assessment as a placement test for courses. The assessment is used to determine eligibility for College Credit Plus and to help with course placement for new learners. The Accuplacer assessment is a required admissions step for the majority of new NSCC learners.

ACCUPLACER testing is by appointment only.

Please note: A government issued photo ID is required before testing.

All new students are required to either submit their ACT / SAT scores or complete the ACCUPLACER Assessment. The ACCUPLACER is a computerized placement test that covers basic skill areas in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Accessing Your Accuplacer Scores
You can access your Accuplacer scores and send your scores from a testing session with NSCC to other institutions through your student portal. In order to do this, you will need your N# (NSCC student ID number). Access the Accuplacer instructions here. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Admissions at 419-267-1320.
Remote Testing
Northwest State Community College offers the Accuplacer assessment at the Archbold and Van Wert campuses. Remote testing options are available to those who live 50+ miles from either campus. To check your distance from either campus please click here.
Before requesting a remote test session, please click here to review remote testing FAQ’s, review technical requirements, and to test the device you are using to ensure it meets the system requirements.
